The Ijaw nation in Delta State has officially adopted President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Sheriff Oborevwori as their sole candidates for the 2027 general elections.
The historic endorsement was made on Wednesday, 15th April 2026, during a grand reception organised in Bomadi to honour the Governor of Delta State.
Leaders and stakeholders from Ijaw communities across the state gathered at the event to declare their unanimous support for both the President and the Governor.
The declaration marks a significant political realignment in the region, with traditional and political leaders pledging to mobilize grassroots support ahead of the next election cycle.
Observers note that the move signals a rare cross-party consensus, aligning federal support for the APC’s President Tinubu with state-level backing for the PDP’s Governor Oborevwori.
