M.O.R.E. Agenda Cited as Blueprint for Unity at Oborevwori’s Lagos Lecture

On Wednesday, April 29, 2026, Delta State Governor Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori delivered a keynote lecture in Lagos.

The event took place at the Yoruba Tennis Club in Onikan.

It was part of the club’s centenary anniversary celebrations.

The lecture was held at the club’s Greetings Hall.

The venue drew a distinguished audience of policymakers, business leaders, and traditional figures.

Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu was in attendance.

Prominent members of the Yoruba Tennis Club also graced the occasion.

Chief Adviser Sen. Chief Dr Ighoyota Amori joined the Governor’s entourage in Lagos.

The lecture was titled “Inclusive Governance and National Unity: Lessons from Delta State for a United Nigeria”.

Governor Oborevwori used the platform to address Nigeria’s unity challenges.

He advocated for the institutionalisation of a decennial national conference.

The conference, he proposed, should be held every 10 years and backed by law.

He argued that national dialogue must not be treated as an emergency response to crises.

Instead, it should become a structured, recurring part of Nigeria’s governance architecture.

Oborevwori stressed that dialogue builds trust and gives all regions a voice.

On inclusive governance, he said unity goes beyond sharing political appointments.

True inclusion, he noted, requires fair representation across all institutions.

It also demands equal opportunities for every segment of society.

The Governor pointed to Delta State’s M.O.R.E. Agenda as a working model.

He explained that the agenda prioritizes merit and competence over ethnic origin.

As evidence, he cited appointments of qualified individuals regardless of state of origin.

According to him, such policies help break ethnic barriers and foster belonging.

During the interactive session, Oborevwori spoke on Nigeria’s economic trajectory.

He noted that the economy is showing signs of rebound due to federal reforms.

Those reforms, he said, have increased revenues available to states.

The increased inflows are enabling more investment in capital projects across Delta.

Governor Sanwo-Olu commended the lecture after Oborevwori’s presentation.

He described the message as timely and relevant to Nigeria’s current needs.

Sanwo-Olu added that the lecture was a reminder of the role leadership must play in uniting the country.
